1. Verify that ArcGIS™ is installed and functioning before you install MapAgile.
2. Download the MapAgile trial program.
3. Un-zip the MapAgile.zip file into a temporary directory.
4. Run MapAgile's setup.exe program from the temporary directory.

ArcView® must be installed and functioning before you install MapAgile, including .NET support.

If .NET support is not installed before MapAgile installation begins, MapAgile’s setup program displays the following error:

Error message reads: "Unable to get installer types in the C:\Program Files\NMT\MapAgile\MapAgile.dll assembly. --> Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information."

Typically, .NET support is installed automatically when ArcView is installed. If this is not the case, you may need to install it manually, as follows:

1. Verify that the Microsoft® .NET Framework version 1.1 is installed:
   • From the Windows Start menu, select Settings, and then select Control Panel.
     The Control Panel appears.
   • Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
     The Add or Remove Programs dialog appears.
   • After the list of currently installed programs is displayed, locate Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 in the list.
     Note: The version number, 1.1, is important; there may also be a 2.0 version of .NET Framework installed on your computer, which you can ignore for the purposes of MapAgile installation.
     • If Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 appears in the list, the .NET Framework is installed.
     • If Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 does not appear in the list, the .NET Framework is not installed on your computer. Install it from Microsoft Update (use the Custom button), or from www.microsoft.com (search for Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package).
2. After Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 is installed, install ArcView’s .NET support:
   • Insert your ArcView installation disc in your computer.
   • After the installation window appears, select Install ArcGIS Desktop, and choose the Modify option. The following setup window appears:

   • Enable .NET Support:
     • Click the button next to .NET Support and from the menu that appears, select Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive.
     • Accept the default settings for the rest of the setup program.
       Important! If the .NET Support option is not listed in the setup window, then ArcView Setup is not recognizing that Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1 is installed. Close the installation program and verify that version 1.1 is installed (see step 1). Then reboot your machine and try installing ArcView again (see step 2).

After you’ve installed both Microsoft® .NET Framework version 1.1 and ArcView’s .NET support is installed and enabled, try MapAgile setup again. It should complete without errors.
